As he walks with Grey into their bedroom, Rat reflects that he doesn't think it actually does make a difference. Like they said before, he loves Grey and Grey loves him and whether or not he speaks doesn't change that. It'll be fun to find out what sounds he can coax from Grey, but that won't make the sex inherently better. It'll still just be them when it comes down to it.

That's all he wants.

Smiling, Rat peels off his shirt and nudges Grey into bed.

But he can, really. It's part of what makes kissing Rat so sweet. It means more than just that, it means more than just a press of mouths. It means that they care about each other; that they love each other. Grey rests his forehead against Rat's and whispers, "do you want me to keep reading?"

"Up to you," he says, reaching up to cup Grey's face. He likes the sound of Grey's voice on literature and he likes the sound of it in bed and just talking. He likes Grey. Period.

AT that, Grey might have been smiling just a little bit. There would be that time when Rat would have been crabby just to be crabby.

He traces along his boyfriend's jaw. "Let's just sit for a while."

That's one of the nice things about this. They can choose to have moments of noise and moments of quiet, even when Grey doesn't speak. "Yeah, come here," he says, rearranging himself and opening his arms for Grey.

It's easy, then, to slide into Rat's arms and settle there, warm and content. Grey rests his cheek on his boyfriend's shoulder and closes his eyes, listening to the beating of his heart.

Rat sighs and cards his fingers through Grey's hair, settling in to half-spoon behind him, head bent to kiss the top of his head.
